Very nice Mac OSX'ish Fluxbox theme

Linux

Quick shout out to let people know about a very nice Fluxbox theme called "LintherBrushed"

This is one of the nicest ones I have ever used...

LintherBrushed is a brushed metal theme that looks like OS X Panther's Aqua theme. It requires that you use the development branch of Fluxbox for the pixmaps to work.

(go get it here http://themes.freshmeat.net/projects/lintherbrushed/ )

I never cared much for the aqua theme. That brushed metal is just a little over the top. Fortunately for other OS X users like me, there's UNO to tone it down a bit. And to make all application windows consistent.

I've seen and tinkered with several tutorials for making the Linux UI look more OS X-ish. Some come pretty close, but I don't think the default Linux UI is all that bad.

I have tried Aqua-like themes in Gnome (Metacity wm) and have found it a little much.

In Fluxbox, however, it feels really nice and clean (like everything in Fluxbox!).

You're going to practically force me to install a new VM so I can play with Fluxbox. It sounds really cool.

DSL comes with Fluxbox. http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/

If you haven't heard of it yet, DSL is pretty rad.

"DSL was originally developed as an experiment to see how many usable desktop applications can fit inside a 50MB live CD."

Awesome

Oh, meant to mention...get DSL and you can just boot into and and get your taste of Fluxbox, without installing anything.

One more thing...if your machine can boot from a USB device, that is the way to go. I have a little keyfob USB that contains my DSL environment. wacky!

Dude, that's what I have VMWare for. I can monkey around all I want and then trash the result if I don't like it. No need for all of this fancy-schmancy USB device booting.
